The Roncalli girls’ basketball team took on the visiting Southern Door Eagles last night in a nonconference matchup.
In a game that featured two teams looking to notch their second win of the season, the Eagles took down the Jets 48-42.
From the opening tip, this was a back-and-forth contest featuring well over a dozen lead changes throughout.
In a low-scoring first half, Roncalli found themselves leading 19-18 at the break.
The Jets would come out slowly to start the second, finding themselves trailing by as much as 8 early on.
However, they would rally back and held a 6-point lead at multiple times in the second half.
But it would be late-game turnovers and a second-half scoring surge from Southern Door that would prove the difference in this one.
The Jets were led offensively by senior Madison Keller, who finished with 18 points. while the Eagles’ Kyleigh Claflin finished with a game-high 20 points.
With the loss, the Roncalli girls fall to 1-14 overall and remain 1-7 in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference after this nonconference matchup.
Up next for the Jets will be an EWC contest at the Hanger against a tough Sheboygan Falls Falcons team tomorrow (January 22nd).
