State and local leaders gathered at the Wisconsin State Capitol to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during a ceremony held in 2026.
Journalist Ahmed Baba delivered the keynote address, noting the significance of the year as the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and its ideals that King championed.
Governor Tony Evers also addressed attendees, saying Wisconsinites continue working toward the future King envisioned.
According to WKOW, the event is the nation’s longest-running official state celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
