A Manitowoc woman is facing charges after a child was found walking alone in the snow.
Manitowoc Police were dispatched to the 4000 block of Custer Street after a caller dialed 911, reporting that they had let the child in their vehicle to warm up because the child was screaming.
The child did not talk to officers at first and was taken to the police station.
Manitowoc Police later received a call from the 30-year-old suspect reporting a runaway.
Officers said they had the child and asked when the last time the suspect saw them.
She said she told the child to go to her room, and that was the last time she talked to the victim.
The child then told officers that the 30-year-old told them to lie to the police and that they were hurt by another person.
That person was not supposed to be in contact with the child, and the suspect could not be the supervisor.
The 30-year-old woman was placed on a probation hold for a previous child abuse case and then taken into custody on a charge of child neglect.
The child was able to be taken by a friend and will be cared for in a different state.
