A professional disc golf championship is returning to the lakeshore area.
The Professional Disc Golf Association announced that the 2028 U.S. Women’s Disc Golf Championship will be hosted at the Nordic Center in Brillion.
The event is expected to draw 350 competitors and 2,500 spectators, bringing expected national attention and economic impact to Calumet County.
The Nordic Center will open a new disc golf course before the event, adding another outdoor recreation option to the venue’s offerings.
It also adds to the Ariens Nordic Center, which already offers skiing, biathlon events, and other activities.
The course is currently in the preliminary design phase and is scheduled to open this summer.
Silver Creek Park in Manitowoc, which was used during the 2025 U.S. Women’s Disc Golf Championship, will also be used again in 2028.
That means Manitowoc County will also receive national attention and some economic impact.
President and Lakeshore Ladies Disc Golf Corporation Founder Lindsey Krause says the scenic setting and commitment to excellence make it the perfect location for hosting this premier event.
“We can’t wait to see competitors and spectators enjoy everything this venue has to offer,” Krause said.
