
Stores in the Village of Kohler were evacuated this weekend.
The Kohler Villager reports that the Kohler Police Department was called to the Deer Trace Shopping Center on Saturday (January 17th) at approximately 10:00 a.m. on a report of a suspicious item found near a cart corral in the Target parking lot.
Thinking the suspicious item may have been explosive, Kohler Police called in the Milwaukee Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit for assistance.
Once on scene, the bomb squad utilized special equipment to shoot and destroy the item in question.
No one was injured as a result of the incident, and currently, no information regarding what the suspicious item actually was has been provided.
Other agencies responding to Deer Trace to assist the Kohler Police Department included Milwaukee’s FBI Field Office, the Kohler Fire Department, the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, the Sheboygan Falls Police Department, and Orange Cross Ambulance.
