A local economic development group that supports local businesses wants to address critical childcare shortages across Manitowoc County.
Progress Lakeshore has created a new Child Care Revolving Loan Fund to support childcare and early childhood education providers as they begin to expand their businesses.
The fund will offer low-interest, short-term loans to assist childcare providers with start-up equipment and renovation expenses, particularly those needed to meet licensing standards.
Loans will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and are expected to range from $2,500 to $6,000.
Progress Lakeshore Executive Director Jamie Zastrow says the loans will do more by “investing in workforce participation, business growth, and long-term economic stability in Manitowoc County.”
The group is also reintroducing Lynn Palama as the Community Child Care Development Specialist.
She will work directly with childcare providers to help them navigate licensing requirements, access funding opportunities, and connect with local and regional resources.
