The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is investigating a manure spill in Kewaunee County.
The spill occurred early last Friday (January 9th) after discharge from an agricultural field was found entering an intermittent stream that connects to Rio Creek.
The cause of the spill appears to be due to recent heavy rainfall, which washed the manure off the cropland where it was applied.
The field is located east of Casco along Highway 54 and is operated by El Na Farms.
DNR staff were on site last week to monitor the situation, and the farm is actively cleaning up the discharge.
More information about the DNR’s actions to help prevent manure spills can be found on their website at dnr.wisconsin.gov.
