A person was rescued by Green Bay Metro Firefighters after a house fire yesterday (December 8th).
The department was called to a home in the 1100 block of Royal Blvd just after 6:00 a.m. after firefighters got an initial report of a possible person trapped inside.
Upon arrival, fire crews found significant smoke coming from the front door and garage.
Two people had made it out of the home, but a third had to be brought out by firefighters. All three were taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department would have to call an All Hands Alarm due to active fires in the basement and kitchen, along with a downed power line in the backyard that was sparking and blocking access for crews.
Due to compromised floors and the overall instability of the structure, fire crews would move from inside the home to the outside.
Eventually, the home’s first floor would collapse. It took longer than 1.5 hours to contain the fire.
The cause is still under investigation by the Fire Marshals.
Green Bay Firefighters also want to emphasize the crucial role of working smoke alarms, which helped get the residents out.
