The Manitowoc Public School District and the Manitowoc/Two Rivers YMCA are teaming up for the district’s full-time 4K program.
The partnership will begin in the 2026-2027 school year and offer free all-day 4K for Manitowoc families at Riverview Elementary School.
The program combines academic instruction with enrichment experiences, as students will spend half a day learning with a certified 4K teacher before transitioning to a YMCA-led enrichment program.
During the second half of the day, students would get lunch, a snack, rest time, as well as play-based learning, large motor activities, art, and recess.
4K at MPSD would run from 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. with childcare available before and after school care through the Y for a fee.
Manitowoc/Two Rivers YMCA CEO Julie Grossman and MPSD Superintendent Lee Thennes explain that the partnership “reflects a shared commitment to supporting families, strengthening early literacy, and providing high-quality early childhood experiences for students in Manitowoc.”
Enrollment details and next steps will be shared as it gets closer to the new school year.
All-day 4K is part of MPSD’s consolidation plan, with all Riverview Elementary classes transitioning to Stangel School.
