2025 was another busy year for the Town of Sheboygan Fire Department.
As we enter the new year, the department has shared some statistics regarding last year, showing that they received more calls in 2025 compared to 2024.
In total, the department received 872 calls last year, up 10% from 2024’s 790.
Despite this increase, fire calls were down, albeit slightly, over the past 12 months, with 182 made last year, good for a 25% decrease.
However, EMS calls were up substantially, with 690 made, increasing 14% from 2024.
2025 also marked the fourth consecutive year of an increase in calls received.
The Town of Sheboygan Fire Department also noted that there were 57 civilian fire deaths in Wisconsin in 2025, which is a 10-year high in the state.
Many of these deaths have been considered preventable and attributed to a lack of or faulty smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
To help combat this, the department is offering some free smoke detectors at the station located at 3911 County Road Y, thanks to the Professional Firefighters of Wisconsin and the Red Cross.
To help ensure the community is as safe as possible, the fire department also offers fire safety inspections for residents of the Town of Sheboygan.
Those interested in having their home inspected or in need of a smoke detector can contact the Town of Sheboygan Fire Department by calling 920-467-6800.
