The Village of Mishicot will join eight other communities in a program through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.
Progress Lakeshore explains that the WEDC’s Connect Communities Program is an initiative that works with communities to advance downtown and historic commercial corridor revitalization efforts.
To be admitted, applicants provided an overview of the condition of their downtown or commercial district and identified key individuals involved in revitalization efforts.
Mishicot Village President Bernie Samz says the program will give them the tools and partnerships needed to advance priority projects and build a strong, sustainable future.
That includes access to regional workshops, an online resource toolkit, and staff and board orientation training.
WEDC COO Sam Rikker congratulated Mishicot for “taking this step toward making its business district even stronger.”
Since its inception, communities participating in the Connect Communities program have reported adding 876 new businesses, over 3,300 new jobs, and almost $4 billion in private investments.
Another community participating in the program is Random Lake in Sheboygan County.
