The Wisconsin Department of Justice has started accepting safety grant applications from public and private K-through-12 schools. The state legislature set aside 100-million dollars last session. The bill forms an Office of School Safety to administer the grants and help school systems develop safety plans. They will be required to conduct annual safety drills. Schools can access money to make basic improvements like installing door locks. If those security thresholds have already been met, the schools can use the money for more advanced improvements.
