As for the boys, Roncalli and Bonduel met on a Wednesday night in Bonduel last season in what many people thought was a Division Four state championship preview.
The Jets left the home of the Bears with an impressive victory, handing them their first loss of the year.
Many then thought Roncalli would play in Madison, but it turned out to be just the opposite as Bonduel advanced to their first state tournament in school history, coming home with a silver ball.
The Jets, meanwhile, pondered what could have been, losing to Cedar Grove/Belgium in the sectionals on a three-quarter court shot at the buzzer.
Fast forward the calendar ten months, as these two teams meet this afternoon at the Kress Center on the UW-Green Bay campus, with many thinking once again that these two teams could end up in Madison come March.
Roncalli suffered its first loss last Tuesday to St. Mary Catholic, while Bonduel is undefeated in five games this season. The game is scheduled to tip off at 1:40 p.m. this afternoon.
Elsewhere in boys hoops, the Big East/EWC Classic continues at Manitowoc Lutheran as the Lancers host New Holstein with Mishicot and Kiel to take to the floor first at 5:00 p.m.
Reedsville has a makeup game in Florence, Brillion hosts Hilbert as part of a boy-girl doubleheader, Denmark plays at Algoma, Pulaski hosts Hortonville, Sturgeon Bay travels to Bigfoot, Hustisford hosts Ozaukee, Neenah and De Pere battle at the Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook/ Rick Majerus Shootout at Concordia University and at the Kress Center in Green Bay, Green Bay Southwest takes on Luxemburg Casco and Lena tangles with Sevastopol.
