
Some northeastern Wisconsin organizations will get money from the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA).
59 organizations, including three from Green Bay, three from Oshkosh, and two from Appleton, will receive grants totaling $2 million to improve emergency shelters, transitional residences, and extremely low-income housing.
In Green Bay, the New Community Shelter, Ecumenical Partnership for Housing, and Hope House of Green Bay will receive funding to replace outdated HVAC and boilers at their locations.
Groups in Oshkosh will receive about $127,000 to remodel bedrooms and construct new affordable housing units.
The Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity and Pillars Inc. in Oshkosh will get a share of $80,000 for water heaters and critical home repairs.
The WHEDA Foundation provides grants for community members with complex needs, including individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, people experiencing intimate partner violence, individuals with incomes at or below 30 percent of the area median income, youth experiencing homelessness, and people with mental and behavioral health conditions.
This year, the group received 117 applications requesting more than $4.4 million.
