
The county-wide Spring Election ballot is starting to take shape.
There will be a new Manitowoc County Executive selected, as Bob Ziegelbauer announced he will not be running for another term.
As of the latest update, the only person to throw his hat into the ring has been Tyler Martel, who is currently serving as the County Board Chairman.
There are two contested races so far, as Andrew Schwema is looking to unseat Lee Engelbrecht in District 20, and Emily Walker is looking to keep her spot as the Multi-Jurisdictional Municipal Judge for the City of Two Rivers and the Village of Mishicot against challenger Mark Heller.
Other incumbents to file their re-election paperwork include Rita Metzger in District 3, District 4 Supervisor Daniel Heilman, Scott Schiesl in District 7, Ken Sitkiewitz of District 9, District 10 Supervisor Don Zimmer, Kevin Behnke in District 12, Matthew Phipps of District 21, Milke Grambow in District 22, and District 25 Supervisor Bonnie Shimulunas.
There have also been some incumbents who have decided not to run again, including District 2 Supervisor Tim Jadowski, Paul “Biff” Hansen in District 6, Ryan Phipps in District 11, and Nicholas Muench in District 18.
The Spring Election is scheduled for April 7th, with the primary slated for February 17th if necessary.
Nomination paperwork is due by January 6th.
