A state park in Sheboygan County is joining in on a New Year’s celebration.
Kohler-Andre State Park on the shores of Lake Michigan will be one of 25 parks across the state hosting First Day Hikes on New Year’s Day.
During the event, Naturalist Laurie Hylen will lead the hike down the lakeshore, sharing her knowledge and expertise with those in attendance.
Once the hike has come to an end, participants are invited to stick around and continue the celebration around the campfire.
While there is no admission fee to take part in the First Day Hike, a Wisconsin state park and forest vehicle admission pass may be required.
Free single-day vehicle passes are available to those interested at both the Mead Public Library in Sheboygan as well as the Manitowoc Public Library.
Other First Day Hikes in our area will be held at Point Beach State Forest in Two Rivers, as well as High Cliff State Park in Calumet County.
Each of the hikes being offered on New Year’s Day will be weather-dependent and may be cancelled due to poor conditions.
Those seeking additional information regarding the hike at Kohler-Andre State Park are asked to contact Phyllis McKenzie by calling 920-451-1080.
