Changes are on the way for the Manitowoc Police Department in 2026.
The Manitowoc Police and Fire Commission has announced that current Assistant Chief John Musial has been selected to serve as the City’s next Chief of Police.
This appointment comes as the current Police Chief Nick Reimer is set to retire in early 2026.
Commission President Michael Wellner has the utmost confidence in Assistant Chief Musial taking over the role, stating, “Assistant Chief Musial has demonstrated exceptional dedication, professionalism, and vision throughout his career. The Commission is confident that his leadership will continue to strengthen the Manitowoc Police Department and enhance its partnership with our community.”
Musial started his law enforcement career in 2009, working his way up through the ranks thanks to his proven ability to lead with integrity.
In the announcement, the Police and Fire Commission expressed their gratitude to Chief Reimer, who has dedicated nearly three decades to the Manitowoc Police Department.
With Reimer serving as Chief for the last 10 years of his 29-year career, the Commission said, “He has guided the department with vision and compassion, fostering trust between officers and the community while ensuring that Manitowoc remains a safe and welcoming place to live. His legacy is one of professionalism, respect, and steadfast devotion to the people he served.”
