The Clipper City Chordsmen have announced their 2025 Harmony Award Winner.
Dr. Don DeBruyn was awarded for making the Lakeshore area a better place to live, thanks to his long history of involvement in local organizations working to protect the environment and provide affordable housing for Lakeshore residents.
Although he’s retired, DeBruyn played a significant role in establishing Habitat for Humanity in Manitowoc in 1989, was one of the original organizers, and has served four terms on the board.
Since then, DeBruyn has served as a director emeritus of the Woodland Dunes Nature Center, a supporter of the Two Rivers Ecumenical Pantry, and has engaged with the Two Rivers Environmental Advisory Committee and the Lakeshore Natural Resources Committee.
Jim Rasmus, who nominated Dr. DeBruyn, explained as a member of the Clipper City Chordsmen, “we are always looking for folks like Don. His passion for the community and for the environment, and his willingness to devote so much time and effort on behalf of all of us, really exemplifies the goal of this award.”
The award was presented to DeBruyn last Saturday (December 13th) during the Clipper City Chordsmen’s Christmas Show at the Franciscan Center.
