The City of Kiel will be changing its sewer rates in the future.
The city announced a public hearing on the rate changes for Tuesday, January 13th, at Kiel City Hall, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
A memo from the city explains that sewer rates will change to keep up with rising operational and maintenance costs and to maintain and improve sewer infrastructure.
The rate for 100 cubic feet will increase from $4.42 to $4.55, meaning that, with the average Kiel resident using 600 cubic feet of sewer volume, the average sewer rate will rise from $26.52 to $27.30, or about 78 cents.
What’s not changing is the sewer bill structure, fixed charges based on meter size, or residential usage categories.
The sewer rate change will not directly affect business and industrial groups, as their payments are based on waste strength.
Kiel residents with questions are asked to call the city hall or their public utility department at 920-894-2909 extension 105.
