Thousands of pounds of tamales have been recalled in the Midwest, including Wisconsin.
La Guadalupana Foods LLC, out of Chicago, has recalled 2,669 pounds of Mild Pork Tamales Wrapped in Corn Husks due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen.
The recalled products were shipped to restaurant and retail locations in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, and Ohio.
The Tamales subject to the recall will also bear a pack date of 10/7/25, a best buy date of 10/8/26, and an establishment number of EST. 21094.
These tamales contain cheese, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.
The problem arose when a restaurant notified La Guadalupana Foods that bean, cheese, and jalapeno tamales were mislabeled as the mild pork tamales that have since been recalled.
Currently, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has had zero reports of adverse reactions linked to the mislabeled products; however, they recommend that consumers and restaurants check freezers for the tamales.
Product labels for the recalled tamales can be found online by visiting fsis.usda.gov.
