There are two meetings scheduled for today (December 15th), in the City of Manitowoc.
Up first is the Committee of the Whole, which will be in the Council Chambers at 6:15 p.m.
The only item on the agenda is to hold negotiations with Newell Operating Company for remediation recovery at the former Mirro site.
Then, at 6:30 p.m., the Common Council will take over the Chambers, where they will hold a public hearing on proposed revenue bond financing for Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Then, after discussing an agreement between the City and the Transit Union, the Council will review a resolution to revise the section of the Employee Policy Manual related to Training, Expenses, and Travel, and the section on Paid Time Off.
In the first section, the council is discussing the addition of language stating “Each department maintains a training budget which Department Heads may choose to use to support employees in obtaining required licenses or certifications,” and that “Employees are generally responsible for paying professional membership dues. However, City departments may cover these costs if the department head approves, adequate funds are available in their budget, and the membership provides a direct benefit to City operations.”
The Council will also look over proposed street improvements for 2026, specifically concrete paving on Viebahn and South 30th Streets, and Lancer Circle, reconstruction and resurfacing of Evergreen Cemetery Roadway, and an alleyway by Custer and West Marshall Street, and a variety of Sanitary and Storm Sewers.
