A group of parents is suing Milwaukee Public Schools for allegedly locking students in a boiler room called “the dungeon.”
The incidents reportedly happened during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years. The suit claims a paraprofessional at Thurston Woods physically forced students inside and turned off the lights.
Students were exposed to chemical fumes and forced to remove their shoes.
Other staff members are accused of encouraging the behavior and threatening students with the same punishment.
MPS confirmed the paraprofessional was terminated following a 2023 investigation.
