A firefighter with the Oshkosh Fire Department has died following a traffic crash in Indiana.
Tom Diener was traveling with Carter Haen and Robbie Betts, both of whom are a part of the Town of Sheboygan Fire Department, when they were involved in a crash.
Diener died from his injuries, while Haen and Betts received emergency medical care at a hospital in South Bend.
Both men are said to be in stable condition. Diener was not only a firefighter/paramedic in Oshkosh, but he also served as a Lieutenant with the Town of Sheboygan Fire Department.
The Oshkosh Fore Department said in a statement, “His loss is profound and felt deeply by his family, friends, coworkers, and the fire service communities he so faithfully served. We hold Carter and Robbie close in our hearts as they navigate the days ahead, and we are wrapping Tom’s family and loved ones in our deepest sympathy.”
A fundraiser has been started to support Diener’s family and to assist Haen and Betts with medical and recovery-related needs.
