The Family Resource Center of Sheboygan County, out of Plymouth, has shared the reach of one of its most beneficial programs this year.
The Parents as Teachers program is a free, evidence-based way to support parents, increase their parenting skills, and provide early detection of potential developmental delays in a child.
Services through the program include in-home or virtual visits, parenting classes, for those with children from prenatal to 3 years of age.
This year, Parents as Teachers served 489 adults and 416 children and completed 703 in-person visits while holding an 85% retention rate.
These visits and families served came from all over the county, including Cleveland, Sheboygan, Random Lake, Cascade, and everywhere in between.
They also performed 97 early developmental screenings, with 29% of children showing signs of delayed development requiring intervention or rescreening.
