A bill penned by an Eastern Wisconsin Senator is a key part of a plan to improve workers’ compensation.
Following negotiations between labor and management, the Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council (WCAC) has developed consensus legislation to improve the workers’ compensation system in Wisconsin.
Among the changes to the system incorporated into the bill are components of Senate Bill 168, authored by Senator Andre Jacque.
This bill aims to allow PTSD workers’ compensation coverage for volunteer firefighters and emergency medical personnel.
Two sessions ago, Wisconsin enacted 2021 Act 29, authored by Sen. Jacque, to provide PTSD workers’ compensation coverage for law enforcement and full-time firefighters.
In the time since, the New Franken legislator has continued proposing legislation to extend PTSD workers’ compensation coverage to emergency medical responders, EMS practitioners, volunteer firefighters, correctional officers, emergency dispatchers, coroners, and medical examiners and their staff.
Sen. Jacque tells SeehaferNews.com, “This legislation is about fairness. The heroes within our communities who have given of themselves and are in need of healing as a consequence of their experiences deserve our support, and I hope to see this legislation quickly move to the governor’s desk.”
