This year’s annual Holiday Lights Hunger Run/Walk in Sheboygan was one for the record books.
The Sheboygan County Food Bank has shared that 2,788 people joined in on the annual fundraiser last month, the most ever in the event’s eight-year history.
In total, there were 2,444 walkers, 344 runners, and more than 160 volunteers who played a crucial role in making the event another massive success.
The run/walk also raised an impressive $200,000, all of which will benefit the Food Bank and members of the Sheboygan County community that it supports on a daily basis.
The money raised will go directly towards getting fresh and nutritious food to families, as rising prices make it increasingly more difficult to make ends meet.
New this year at the Holiday Lights Hunger Run/Walk was the inaugural on-site food drive, which was held in partnership with Making Spirits Bright.
This first-ever food drive at the event saw 1,154 pounds of food collected, which was also donated to the Sheboygan County Food Bank.
In closing, the Food Bank showed its appreciation to those who helped make the event happen, saying, “Huge thanks to Acuity Insurance (Presenting Sponsor), Rotary Making Spirits Bright (Host Sponsor), WLKN – LAKE 98.1 (Media Sponsor), and every sponsor, partner, volunteer, and participant who made this magical night possible.”
