The man convicted in a boat crash in Winnebago County is looking to get his conviction overturned.
Jason Lindemann has filed an appeal after he was found guilty by a jury in 2024 on charges of Reckless Endangerment and numerous other charges.
He was charged after the boat he was driving clipped a party paddle boat on the Fox River in July of 2022, causing injuries to several people on the paddle boat.
WBAY reports that in his appeal, Lindemann argued that there was insufficient evidence to convict him.
He also claimed that because he accelerated as he cleared the no-wake zone, he should not have been convicted on felony charges, and that he drives his boat the same as everyone else does.
Lindemann was sentenced to five months in jail, followed by three years of probation and community service, however there are still civil lawsuits filed against him making their way through the system.
