
The two favorites to win the Big East Conference North Division Title meet in Fox Crossing tonight as 4-0 Manitowoc Lutheran battles 4-0 St. Mary Catholic.
These two teams met three times last season, with SMC taking two of three, including a WIAA Division Four Sectional Title that sent the Zephyrs to the state tournament.
The Lancers have dominated defensively with their smothering 1-3-1 zone defense, forcing multiple turnovers, leading to a scoring differential of better than 34 points per game.
St. Mary Catholic features a balanced attack, led by junior Autumn Crowe. In the Zephyrs’ first four games, she’s averaging better than 20 points per game while shooting better than 58 percent from the floor. Game time at the Ralph McClone Gymnasium is 7 p.m.
Other girls’ games tonight include 5 and 0 Valders hosting Menasha, Two Rivers travels up to Sevastopol, Mishicot plays at Howards Grove, Hilbert hosts Reedsville, Brillion travels to Algoma, New Holstein heads to Fond Du Lac to battle the Vikings of Winnebago Lutheran Academy, Wrightstown hosts Chilton, Oostburg is home for Cedar Grove Belgium, and Ozaukee is at Random Lake.
Meanwhile, the Manitowoc Lincoln boys’ basketball team tries for a second consecutive win tonight as they host the Green Bay West Wildcats at the JFK.
The Ships posted their first win of the season last Tuesday night by rallying to defeat Menasha 85 to 81 behind 29 points from senior guard Micah Kubsch.
This is the second game of the young season for Green Bay West, which lost to Xavier in its season opener, 104 to 59. Coverage of tonight’s game on 980 WCUB and cubradio.com begins at 7 p.m.
