The City of Two Rivers approved another levy to help with business.
City Manager Kyle Kordell explains that the city’s 2026 Business Improvement District (BID) levy will continue with an assessment rate of $1.77 per $1,000 of assessed value and is expected to generate under $54,000 to support downtown programming through Two Rivers Main Street.
This includes special events, marketing, façade grants, and business recruitment.
Kordell notes that the BID is not a citywide tax and only applies to commercial properties within the BID’s district.
By law, all district funds must be reinvested in the area to support its economic vitality.
The city will review the boundary map during a second BID Board meeting in May next year. It will be the first time it’s been looked at in 30 years.
Kordell explains that the look will help determine whether the current district still reflects today’s business landscape and reinvestment priorities.
