Two Manitowoc County groups have been awarded state Dairy Processor Grant funding.
Pine River Dairy and Pine River Pre Pack are two of thirteen companies that received a share of $743,000 in Dairy Processor grant funding.
Pine River Dairy will use the money to modernize butter packaging equipment to increase production capacity, enhance product quality, and expand market reach.
The Pre-Pack plant in Newton will install a natural gas line and replace the existing fuel oil-burning boiler and tank water heater at the processing facility.
Another company in Briess Malting will use some of the funding to upgrade its control systems.
In the announcement, Governor Tony Evers explains that he added $800,000 to the 2025-2028 Wisconsin state budget to support dairy processors and the state’s dairy supply chain.
The grant program began in 2014.
