The National Weather Service is encouraging everyone in Northeast Wisconsin to be careful today as a major cold snap hits the area.
The wind will be gusting as high as 20 miles per hour, causing frigid windchills as low as 20 below zero this morning.
The record or near record cold will continue this afternoon with highs of 8 to 15 degrees, which may result in a few locations setting a record low.
Drivers are encouraged to make sure they have extra warm clothing in their vehicles, along with some food and water in case of an emergency.
The hazardous weather outlook continues into the weekend, when more snow is expected, causing some potentially hazardous travel conditions.
