
Lois T. MacDonald, age 86, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Tuesday, Dec 2, 2025 at Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital.
Lois was born on January 17, 1939 in Manitowoc to the late Clarence and Alma (Heise) Matte. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1957. On June 18, 1960, Lois married James D. MacDonald at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Lois was a loving wife, stay at home mother, and dedicated homemaker. She was an avid reader and had a gift of storytelling that she shared with her grandchildren. Lois enjoyed taking trips to the casinos, going on camping trips with her family, playing sheepshead with her ladies’ card club and her family, and playing in her golf league for many years. Later on in life, Lois enjoyed wintering with her husband Jim and family in Sun City, AZ. She was a member of Manitowoc Eagle’s Auxiliary, the Lois Club, and St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
Survivors include Lois’ husband of 65 years, Jim; four children, Steven (Gayle) MacDonald, Jeffrey (Michele) MacDonald, Kathryn (Todd) Surges, and Pamela (Jerry) Ney; three grandchildren, Justin MacDonald, Robert (Anna) MacDonald, and Emily MacDonald; great granddaughter, Annie MacDonald; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Sue Matte, Janice Matte, Dawn Matte, and Gary (Karen) Johnson; also other relatives and friends. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Alma Matte; daughter, Amanda Krueger; brothers and sisters: Leroy Matte, Kenneth Matte, Meryl Matte, Lloyd Matte, Patricia Schwoerer, Gene Matte, Bruce Matte, and Darlene Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Rev. Doug LeCaptain will officiate with entombment to take place at Calvary Mausoleum at a later date. A luncheon for family and friends will then be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
