The Kiel Alderperson connected to a dog poop scandal has resigned.
During the Committee of the Whole meeting last night (December 2nd), Alderperson Kathy Schuette stepped down from her role, continuing to claim her innocence.
The entire saga began on November 18th, when Mary Christel, owner of Christel’s Pet Supplies and More, reported during the public comment section of a City Council meeting that someone had been leaving bags of dog waste in and around the porch area of her business.
The culprit, Schuette’s husband, was later caught on camera and issued a ticket for littering. Christal told the Council she believed “…that this is a vengeance for whatever the hoopla went on a few weeks ago,” referencing the time when Alderperson Schuette claimed there was corruption in moving funds in the Business Improvement District’s budget after Christel took over as the Chair of the BID.
2nd District Alderman Jacob Guell apologized to Christel and then asked for Schuette’s resignation, which she has now complied with.
While announcing her resignation, Schuette denied having any knowledge of what was happening.
