The Sheboygan Police Department is reminding residents of an upcoming change to parking rules in the city.
Starting on Monday (December 1st), overnight winter parking regulations will take effect and remain in place until March 31st of next year.
Each day, these regulations will be in place from midnight until 6:00 a.m.
During the winter parking season, residents must abide by alternate side parking, depending on the calendar date.
On dates ending in an odd number, residents park on the side of the street with odd-numbered addresses and on the opposite side of the street on even-numbered dates.
However, any streets marked with no no-parking sign will remain no-parking zones across the city.
In the event of significant snowfall or icy conditions, Mayor Ryan Sorenson may issue a snow emergency with a 24-hour notice.
When a snow emergency is in effect in Sheboygan, parking will be prohibited on snow emergency routes, boulevards, cul-de-sacs, and dead ends.
Car owners will be asked to park on the corresponding side of the street depending on the date, and will be asked to move to the opposite side before midnight the following day, allowing city crews to completely and quickly plow and salt streets.
Those in violation of these parking restrictions will be fined $50.
