A little girl in Fond du Lac is asking Santa for a very special gift this year.
4-year-old Finley wrote a letter to Santa Claus, in which she asked for a Christmas miracle, a living liver donor for her grandma, Brigid Bergan.
Brigid was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, which has destroyed the healthy cells in her liver.
Doctors have told her that her only chance to live to watch Finley grow up is to receive a liver donation from someone in good physical health between the ages of 18 and 60.
Donors must be willing to complete pre-surgery testing and be either blood type A or O.
In her letter to Santa, Finley said, “I love my Grandma so much, and she loves me to the moon and back…We spend time together baking, playing games, doing craft projects, laughing, and acting silly…Please send a donor to my Grandma for Christmas.”
She also told Santa that he can call UW Health Madison Transplant Center at 608-263-1384 to set it all up.
But, of course, anyone who meets the criteria, or is contacted by Santa to help out Brigid and Finley, can also call that number to see if they can help.
