The Manitowoc man who claimed “devil music” made him almost run over a couple has been convicted.
51-year-old Matthew Korth appeared in Manitowoc County Court yesterday (November 25th), where he was found guilty due to a no contest plea on charges of 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and Disorderly Conduct.
A charge of Carrying a Concealed Knife was dismissed but read into the record.
Korth was set to go to trial on December 15th, but instead was ordered by Judge Anthony Lambrecht to spend two years on probation.
Korth was arrested after he drove up on the sidewalk near PetSkull Brewing during a metal music festival, nearly hitting a couple.
He said the “devil music” being played and the fact that the man had put up the devil horns caused him to act the way he did.
As a part of his probation, Korth was ordered to have no contact with PetSkull Brewing or the one-block radius around the building and to undergo anger management.
A sixty-day stay in the Manitowoc County Jail under the Huber Law was stayed, and can be imposed at the court’s or his probation officer’s discretion.
