A fight at a Manitowoc park landed a 47-year-old man in handcuffs.
Manitowoc Police officers were dispatched to the Burger Boat Company Park at 821 South 8th Street just after 3:30 p.m. on Saturday (November 22nd) on a report of a physical altercation.
A witness told police that the suspect had thrown multiple punches after a verbal altercation.
The witness claimed the suspect’s girlfriend was trying to get into another person’s vehicle, owned by a man known to have a history of homelessness.
The man typically allows another person to stay warm in the vehicle, but refused to let the suspect’s girlfriend in, which upset the suspect.
He allegedly punched one of the individuals, whose name was redacted from the police report, two or three times.
The suspect fled from the area after the altercation, as he had a warrant out for his arrest, however, he was later located near the intersection of North 7th and Park Streets.
He claimed that he was assaulted for no reason, which contradicted multiple other witness reports of the situation.
He was taken into custody on charges of Disorderly Conduct, Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, and Felony Bail Jumping.
