Details remain scarce regarding the death of a man near a tree stand in Fond du Lac County.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office dispatched deputies to the area of Stumpf Road and Wild Goose Road in the Town of Oakfield at 8:30 Saturday evening after receiving a 911 call.
The caller stated they found a man near a tree stand who appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound.
The 24-year-old Lomira man was already deceased.
The Sheriff’s Office determined the man was shot due to an unintended discharge.
This was said to be an isolated incident, and that the public is not in any danger.
The incident is still under investigation.
Deputies were aided at the scene by LifeStar Ambulance, the Oakfield Fire Department and First Responders, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, and the Fond du Lac County Medical Examiner’s Office.
