The Valders Vikings girls basketball team welcomed in the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans for their home opener last night (November 21st).
Strong defense and hot shooting powered the Vikings past Luxemburg-Casco in convincing fashion en route to a 56-28 victory.
The game got off to a shaky start for Valders, who found themselves down 7-0 to start the game in large part to a suffocating full-court press from the Spartans.
However, the Vikings found their groove late on in the first half thanks to four first-period 3-pointers from senior Zoey Siders.
Despite the slow start, Valders found themselves up at half by a score of 33-16.
The second half was another dominant performance from the Vikings in large part to some tough defense of their own.
Valders would only allow two made field goals in the second period while Siders knocked down three more triples.
She would lead the way for Valders, finishing with a game-high 27, nearly outscoring Luxemburg-Casco on her own, while fellow senior Megan Hochkammer added 10 of her own.
With the win, the Valders girls move to 2-0 on the year and will next be in action on December 2nd when they host New Holstein to open up EWC play.
