The Salvation Army of Manitowoc County is holding a friendly competition to see which local organization can raise the most money.
The “Battle of the Nonprofits” takes place over the weekend on Monday, December 1st, and Tuesday, December 2nd, and will have groups stationed at Red Kettle locations across Manitowoc and Two Rivers.
The nonprofits will ring bells as they raise money not only to support the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign but also to support their own organizations. 50% of the total funds collected will go back to the nonprofit, while the other half will go toward the local Salvation Army.
Whichever organization raises the most money will earn the traveling Battle Trophy and year-long bragging rights.
The organizations participating this year are Ascend Services, CASA of East Central WI, CORE Behavioral Health Services, Gracious Givers, Grow it Forward, Hope House, InCourage, Lakeshore CAP, Lakeshore Humane Society, Lighthouse Recovery, Painting Pathways, Pink Heals, The Haven, and Two Rivers Ecumenical Pantry.
This is the second year for the Battle of the Nonprofits, with Salvation Army Lieutenant Samantha Tamayo saying, “While the event is more about partnership, when local nonprofits unite under one cause – helping neighbors in need – everybody wins.”
