Following the first snowfall of the school year, the Sheboygan Area School District (SASD) is reminding parents of its snow day procedures.
Last year, the district made changes to the way it handles snow days and other weather-related closures, and this year will follow the same process.
The first snow day of the school year will remain a traditional snow day with no school, as the district says every student deserves the joy of a winter day off.
However, each subsequent weather-related closure will have students completing schoolwork through virtual learning days remotely from their homes.
For elementary students and those at the early learning center, take-home packets will be given out, with students receiving them this week across the district.
Middle and high school students will instead engage in live, virtual instruction with their teachers following the same bell schedule they have in person.
In the event of a snow day, parents or caregivers can also expect an email the day of with additional details regarding at-home or virtual learning.
School closures will be posted online at sheboygan.k12.wi.us.
