The rules regarding parking on South 8th Street near Manitowoc Lincoln High School have changed.
The Manitowoc Common Council approved an ordinance that disallows parking on the east side of South 8th from Madison to Columbus Street between regular school hours of 7:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Other areas where parking is no longer allowed during school hours include the east and west sides of South 8th Street south of Franklin Street.
Parking will also not be permitted on the east or west sides of South 8th Street from the south curbline of Quay Street.
City documents show that in 2019, when the freshmen class was moved into Lincoln, all bus pickups and drop-offs were moved from South 8th Street to Green Street to accommodate the additional buses needed for transport.
However, the previous parking ordinance was outdated, so the city’s Public Safety Committee approved the change before it went to the full council.
