
A new high school girls’ basketball season tips off tonight with some local and area teams hitting the hardwood.
Manitowoc Lutheran, a victory away from state last season, opens at home with a Big East test against the Ozaukee Warriors.
The Lancers, under Head Coach Mike Behnke, have four of five starters returning, but lose forward “G” Ermis to graduation, who led the Lancers in rebounding, steals, and was one of their top scorers.
The Lancers, the defending Big East champions, rely on a pesky 1-3-1 zone defense to force a quick pace, multiple turnovers, and easy opportunities on the offensive end.

Two Rivers begins a new era under Head Coach Kally Kreuger as the Raiders travel to Cedar Grove-Belgium to battle the Rockets.
Krueger takes over a Raiders program striving for consistency and stability as she is the third head coach in as many years.
She comes over from Mishicot, where she was a member of the 2021 state girls’ basketball and softball championship teams and served as an assistant for the girls’ basketball team for the last several years.

Elsewhere, Hilbert is home for Northeast Wisconsin Christian Home School Athletics Association, Bay Port hosts Luxemburg-Casco, Green Bay Preble visits Freedom, Appleton North entertains West De Pere, and Pulaski heads to New London to battle the Bulldogs.
