One person is dead following a shooting in Shawano County.
Sheriff George Lenzner issued a release, which stated that the County Dispatch Center received a 911 call at 9:15 Wednesday evening (November 12th) reporting a man had shot one of his friends.
Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a second residence on County Road M, just west of Tigerton, where the caller had barricaded themselves.
While the deputies were en route, the male suspect attempted to enter that building, and the caller discharged their weapon in the man’s direction.
The deputies confronted the suspect outside, and while the man initially was uncooperative, he was eventually taken into custody without incident.
The victim, a 67-year-old man from the Greenleaf area, was located and was determined to have already passed away.
The 74-year-old male suspect was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries before being taken to the Shawano County Jail.
Charges are being referred to the Shawano County District Attorney’s Office.
