Professional soccer is coming to Green Bay, but this time for more than a single match.
The City of Green Bay met with representatives from the United Soccer League on Tuesday, where they came to an agreement to bring a team to Titletown.
Specifically, the Council approved a Letter of Intent, which will give the two entities ten months to develop a multi-purpose sports and entertainment district and a stadium to house men’s and women’s professional soccer clubs.
That stadium would have a 5,000-seat capacity, but could also be a mixed-use development.
The deal comes on the heels of an immensely successful international soccer match at Lambeau Field.
Over 79,000 fans filled the stadium in 2022 to watch Bayern Munich take on Manchester City, making it the most attended soccer match of the year in the United States.
The success of that event is leaving the Green Bay Packers seeking to bring more European clubs to Lambeau Field for Friendly Matches.
