One of the leaders of the Valders High School State Cross Country championship team last Fall will attend a Division-1 university on an athletic scholarship. Trevor Wenzel signed his letter of intent with UW-Milwaukee Tuesday in front of a high school assembly. Wenzel plans to compete in Cross Country and Track for the Panthers and was actively recruited by the Milwaukee coaching staff after a 3rd place individual finish at the State Meet in Wisconsin Rapids. Vikings Coach Bill Dietrich said a 4-year scholarship will offset his college tuition as he pursues a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Trevor has a 3.85 GPA at Valders as he prepares to graduate this spring. He and his ‘track & field’ teammates are looking forward to competing now that temperatures are finally on the upswing.
