The Green Bay offense struggled as the Packers fell to the Philadelphia Eagles 10-7 at Lambeau Field.
Jordan Love threw for 176 yards on 36 attempts, while the running backs rushed for 104 yards, with a vast majority of the production coming in the second half. In fact, the Packers only had 83 yards total in the first half.
When asked why the offense has been so choppy and sporadic, Head Coach Matt LaFleur responded, “That’s a good question.”
“When you look at it…we just weren’t clean,” he put it bluntly. “Whether it was penalties, there was a drop on fourth down. I will always look at myself first and foremost. Are we putting the guys in the right place? Do we have opportunities to throw completions?”
O-Lineman Sean Rhyan didn’t see the field until the Packers’ last drive before the half, but when he went in for an injured Elgton Jenkins at Center, the offense changed, and began to move the ball.
Sean, who takes snaps with Malik Willis in the pregame warmups, said his mindset is simple when getting called upon to start every single play.
“Get the ball to the quarterback,” he said with a chuckle. “That’s the number one job, everything else is secondary.”
Rhyan is not one to really talk about himself or his accomplishments, but Jordan Love was more than happy to praise the versatile blocker.
“Sean brings a lot of energy. He’s a guy that’s played a lot of ball,” the QB noted. “It’s tough loosing Elgton, and we will see what the status is on him, but yeah, I think Sean did a great job coming in. He’s a guy who stays ready.”
Defensively, there is very little to complain about.
The Eagles struggled just as much as the Packers did with the ball, rushing for 111 yards between four runners, while Jalen Hurts was held to 183 yards, but had a 41-yard TD throw.
Safety Evan Williams was proud of how the defense played, especially in the run game.
“It’s good that we are able to be stout when we make up our mind,” he said. “I give all props to the d-line. They make it easy for me to get some clean run-throughs and finish on the ball.”
The Packers will be back on the road next Sunday for a noon matchup with the New York Giants, which will be playing its first game without recently fired Head Coach Brian Daboll.
