The Sheboygan Police Department is clarifying the details regarding a rumor spreading throughout the community.
On Friday, the Department assisted the U.S. Marshals Service, Eastern Wisconsin Violent Fugitive Task Force in locating and arresting an Illinois native.
This individual was wanted on a federal warrant for delivering Fentanyl, however, rumors began to swirl regarding the nature of the arrest, some saying ICE was involved.
The rumor mill also claimed that ICE was conducting raids in the area, an assumption the Department said is “inaccurate.”
Sheboygan Police are encouraging the community to “rely on verified information from official sources,” as “False reports and rumors can spread quickly, creating unnecessary fear and concern.”
