The Two Rivers Public School District wants to upgrade athletic facilities at Two Rivers High School.
The TR Proud Capital Campaign was launched in June, following the school district’s Facilities and Technologies Committee’s discussion about updating the high schools’ sports complex.
Superintendent Diane Johnson explained on WOMT’s Be My Guest program that this will not be funded with taxpayer dollars but with donations.
“We are working on a list of different businesses and bigger businesses and organizations we can go to,” she expounded. “We’re working on grants, how to secure grants for this.”
The project would be done in four phases, including putting in a natural turf football field with soccer striping and resurfacing the track.
The second phase would be redoing the tennis and pickleball courts, while phase three would include a new infield turn for the baseball diamond and a brand-new softball diamond with a plaza and path.
Later on, the press boxes, concessions stand, and bleachers would get redone.
Johnson says a website has been created to show the current condition of the athletic area.
The superintendent explained, “If you go to Two Rivers Public School District and you look in the top corner on the right called TR Proud campaign, it will show you a picture of the renderings and it will also show you some of the pictures of what the facilities look like now and what we would like to look like in the future.”
If everything works out with donations, it will be the first significant upgrade to the athletics area since it was built in 2002.
