A man has pleaded guilty to a homicide charge and other counts in the 2021 death of his infant in Racine.
Court records show the 39-day-old child died of abusive head trauma and blunt-force injuries while in the care of 22-year-old Shavale Powell.
At the time of the initial charges, Powell was 17 and faced first-degree reckless homicide and child abuse counts.
Prosecutors found another child in the home had eye injuries and bruising.
Powell was sentenced to five years in prison followed by five years of extended supervision.
